Rocking the Holiday Season
Tis the season, as they say, but honestly I’d rather be drawing comics! I’m 7 pages in on episode 8, and feeling good about the work so far. The illustration above is from the work I’m doing on episode 8.
When things are quiet at my day job I get to work on this story. My work schedule fluctuates a great deal so I’m either overwhelmed with work, or starving for work. No middle ground for me! Lately however I’ve been able to get some sort of balance where I can work on this story, and have enough work where I can get by, but enough free time to spend at the drawing board.
I’m grateful for the opportunity to do this work, even though I know it’s a coin-toss as to whether my efforts on this web-comic bear any fruit. That said the story has attracted a few readers at Global Comix, which has been so exciting for me. I’m hoping that will continue to grow.
There’s satisfaction in doing the work, even thought Im almost never 100% satisfied with the results. I try to keep things in perspective and realize that I’m never going to like my own drawing. So instead, I focus on the little wins, the small improvements that happen over time. That is the fuel that keeps me going.
Stay happy out there, and keep on drawing!
