Chronicles of the Omni Grove?
I’m writing this morning before I start working on the last 3 pages of episode 9, to provide a quick update on the stories progress. This is the first episode where I’m using the classic print format of two page spreads rather than the vertical, web based format I’ve used since the start of this story. I made this change with the idea that I might want to create printed issues at some point down the road. This new format will necessitate I create a new property at Global Comix, because I don’t think I’m able to change the format of episodes, once I set it at the start of a new title.
There’s a lot of changes within new episode (episode 9), I have a few new characters to introduce and a new direction for Edwin and Dee. The story is evolving as I work on it, I’ll be honest, I have only broad ideas where I want it to go. Until I actually start building the pages even I don’t know where it will end. In this new episode already, there have been a lot of surprises for me on where the characters seem to want to go. I’m liking the direction the story is taking however and I’m looking forward to finishing it up and sharing it with the few folks that have decided to follow the story on Global Comix.
So given all the changes I’ve made to this story, I’m contemplating using this format change as an opportunity to update the title of the series, to essentially make it almost like a spin-off of the original story, where we broaden the focus with new characters, new environments and more world building. So I have been thinking of updating the title of the story. My working title for the moment is “Chronicles of the Omni Grove”, I haven’t settled on it 100%.
If anyone has any thoughts or suggestions for the new title, be sure to leave a comment!

The page I’m sharing with this post, is part of the introduction of a new character who I’ve based on an old friend of mine who passed away recently, Brian Boucher. I met Brian at the Art Institute of Boston, way back in the early 1980’s. My first comic was created with Brian, he was the writer, letterer and did the inking on the first issue of “Crusade“. I did the penciling and later did inking in the second issue and final issue. I wanted to add Brian to the story as a character as a tribute to a dear friend, who challenged me in a lot of ways. He exposed me to a lot of art & comics I hadn’t discovered on my own. Brian had an enthusiasm for life was infectious, and a larger than life quality to him. I’m grateful for his friendship, and was saddened by his loss.

I appreciate hearing some of what Brian meant to you, Scott.
